About Home Halo and this blog

My name is Kevin Coulter. I am the founder and president of Home Halo, Inc., a home watch and concierge company that specializes in watching, caring for, and servicing the vacation home.

Caring for over 100 million dollars worth of vacation property and checking properties more than 5000 times since we started, I have gained valuable knowledge that I wanted to share with others. This blog includes everything involved in owning a vacation home, from keeping up with the pest control so the spiders do not take over, to keeping your septic system working properly when you are gone, to the hot fishing photos(everybody likes a good fishing story). Hope you enjoy, and if you have an experience that I have not listed, please comment.

Spider Webs On House

This home is only one year old and already is covered with cob webs. A good pest control company can almost eliminate the spiders from making a home on your house.

A Good Idea To Turn Off Your Water

Garage doors do mysteriously open when you're out of town and it is 35 below zero on Christmas Eve. This stuff really does happen. Not a bad idea to shut the water off when you leave.

Mystery Rodent

The mystery rodent. They ate everything in the cabinet, except for a few crumbs. After setting traps, we got two red squirrels. They found their way in through an opening in the back of the cabinet.

Turn Off Your Well Pump

If you are away for more than a day, turn your water off. That is all I have to say!

Keep Your Furnace Filters Clean

It is very important to keep the furnace filter clean. With temperatures reaching 36 below zero this winter, the furnaces are working overtime and filters can get dirty fairly quickly. A dirty filter can lead to furnace failure.

24" walleye out of same hole!

OK--I would not believe it if I didn't catch it myself. This is a 24" Walleye that came out of the same hole 15 minutes later!

28" walleye

28-1/4" Walleye on tip up using 4" sucker minnow.
